An amateur photographer has beaten more than 1,700 entries, including submissions from professional photographers, to win the AOP Open.

Uygur Yilmaz, who works for an advertising agency in Turkey, scooped the Best in Show award with a portrait of his friend, Gul.

He walked away with prizes including an Epson Stylus Photo R2880 printer at a presentation ceremony held at the AOP Gallery.

The best entries are on show until 12 September at the AOP Gallery, 81 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4QS.
