Alien Skin has released a new version of its professional software plug-in for applying film-like effects to digital images. Exposure 2 offers twice as many film-stock settings as the previous version, including presets that give images the look of Polaroid, color print film, and hard-to-find and discontinued film stocks. Other new effects include exposure pushing, cross-processing, color shifting and fading, and enhanced infrared simulation and color-to-monochrome conversion.

London—International jeweler Adler teamed up with fashion designer Ben De Lisi for his spring/summer 2008 show held at the Natural History Museum in London during the city’s Fashion Week. De Lisi used Adler’s long, multi-layered necklaces that combine diamonds with faceted precious and semiprecious gemstones to create layers of reflective color and movement. In addition, De Lisi incorporated a selection of colored stones such as aquamarine, citrine, jet, lapis, rose quartz and smoky topaz with fabrics such as double satin, mosaique sequins and art tulle as well as vintage spiral prints.

Los Angeles—Most of TV’s glamour gals opted for bare necklines at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, choosing instead dangling earrings, cuff bracelets and statement rings as their red-carpet accessories du jour. Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera, winner of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, kept her neck bare but wore platinum and diamond dangling earrings and rings by Lorraine Schwartz to complement her strapless bright-blue gown.

New York—Vogue’s verdict is in: Wear jewelry big this fall and don’t forget the brooch. The September issue of the influential fashion magazine hit the newsstands recently with all 840 pages dedicated to fall clothing. The overriding theme is dress daringly, and for jewelry, wear a brooch. “Turns out the designers have gone pin-mad for fall,” Plum Sykes writes in the issue. Even Anna Wintour plugs brooches in her editor’s note: “It’s a great season to dress up, even if that only means adding a bright shoe or a bold brooch,” she writes.

PhotographyBLOG reviews the Canon EOS 40D and writes – ‘The high points of the Canon EOS 40D are the tough, durable body, the control layout and that amazing 6.5fps shooting mode. Yes, it does soundly like a badly-muffled machine-gun, but it lets you grab action sequences that lesser cameras would miss. The speed of the AF system keeps moving subjects sharp, too. But perhaps the most striking thing about the Canon EOS 40D is its value.
